overcoming my fear: the first attempt.

Although I wouldn’t add seamstress to my list of talents I did finally break out my sewing machine and use it. I posted a little while ago how I wanted to overcome my fear of the sewing machine, I’m still a little skittish around it but I’m using it.

I started a project a long time ago that I really wanted to try. I’ve always wanted to make a little stuffed animal. It may have been my love of plush toys when I was a kid, or all of the cute toys on Etsy, but I knew I had to at least TRY and make one. Try was the key word here…

Without further delay I would like you to meet my new little friend:

He enjoys lazy walks through the garden, and sipping tea with a good book. He comes from a long line of rabbits and has more sisters than he can count. Although he is a fairly well mannered rabbit sometimes he enjoys a good game of chase with the neighbor’s cat, Lulu.

I really like making him. I’m not 100% sure he’s kid friendly, although I know Aurora will end up playing with him. He’s made out of an old t-shirt and a thrifted floral skirt. I think I like the bow tie the best. I didn’t have any stuff so I just used scrap fabric and he is surprisingly not that lumpy.

He does need a name though… hmmm… what do you think his name should be?

*UPDATE*

He has been named Mr. Carlton Huebert Hopsalot.

Thanks everyone!!

  1. Awww he's so cute!! First attempt at using a sewing machine = success!!! Good job hun! I'm not good at naming things...My cat ended up with the name Momma's Boy just because i kept calling him that when he would follow me around and eventually that stuck more than his "real" name did. =P
